Choice Architecture for Nudges to Support Constructive Learning in Active Video Watching

چکیده
Abstract Video-based learning is widely used today in both formal education and informal a variety of contexts. Videos are especially powerful for transferable skills (e.g. communicating, negotiating, collaborating), where contextualization personal experience ability to see different perspectives crucial. With the ubiquity available video content, video-based seen as one main strategies provide engaging environments. However, numerous studies show that learn effectively while watching videos, students need engage actively with content. We have developed an active platform (AVW-Space) facilitate engagement content by providing means constructive learning. The initial AVW-Space on presentation only who commented videos rated comments written their peers improved understanding target skill. In order foster deeper engagement, we designed choice architecture set nudges encourage deeper. conducted two investigating effect nudges. results evidence implemented effective: received wrote more comments, aspects, there were comments. particularly helpful undergraduate less experienced self-regulated Future work includes designing additional enhance student improving quality encouraging participation collaborative activities.

Beyond nudges: Tools of a choice architecture
The way a choice is presented influences what a decision-maker chooses. This paper outlines the tools available to choice architects, that is anyone who present people with choices. We divide these tools into two categories: those used in structuring the choice task and those used in describing the choice options. Tools for structuring the choice task address the idea of what to present to deci...
متن کاملwillingness to communicate in the iranian context: language learning orientation and social support
why some learners are willing to communicate in english, concurrently others are not, has been an intensive investigation in l2 education. willingness to communicate (wtc) proposed as initiating to communicate while given a choice has recently played a crucial role in l2 learning. it was hypothesized that wtc would be associated with language learning orientations (llos) as well as social suppo...
Learning Image Matching by Simply Watching Video
This work presents an unsupervised learning based approach to the ubiquitous computer vision problem of image matching. We start from the insight that the problem of frame-interpolation implicitly solves for inter-frame correspondences. This permits the application of analysisby-synthesis: we firstly train and apply a Convolutional Neural Network for frame-interpolation, then obtain corresponde...
متن کاملLearning to Separate Object Sounds by Watching Unlabeled Video
Perceiving a scene most fully requires all the senses. Yet modeling how objects look and sound is challenging: most natural scenes and events contain multiple objects, and the audio track mixes all the sound sources together. We propose to learn audio-visual object models from unlabeled video, then exploit the visual context to perform audio source separation in novel videos. Our approach relie...
متن کاملSelf-Regulated Learning Nudges
Self-Regulated Learning increases the effectiveness of education and self-control has a high impact on the successful life generally. Cognitive biases heavily influence the decision making process, often against interests of those who make them. Therefore technological solutions that would support metacognitive scaffolding of learners may be very helpful. Our approach is based on Personal Learn...
